I'll be prepping them for my team to start packing them over the weekend (weather permitting) which means the majority will be shipped out next week. Everyone will receive an email with their tracking number about a day after they are picked up by USPS.

Backerkit Surveys, Fires, Shipping, and more!
about 1 year ago – Thu, Jan 09, 2025 at 11:49:26 AM

Hello Awesome Backers:

As many of you saw, the Backerkit Surveys have been sent out. If you missed yours, you can find it here: Backerkit Survey.

I will lock down the surveys next Tuesday, which will give you 24 hours to change your order or address. After lock down, I'll be able to send the link to download any digital items you ordered. So, look for the Backerkit email next week. Remember, you must fill out your survey in order to get your rewards.

FIRES AND SHIPPING

The books did arrive in port on Jan. 4; however, due to off-loading delays and the local fires I'm looking at a delivery date of around Jan. 16th at my house. That may change depending on road closures and safety issues. As usual, I'll keep you posted. Speaking of fires...

We are currently fine, but we have the Eaton Fire on one side, and the Hurst Fire on the other. Pacific Palisades is pretty far from us, but the air quality is bad everywhere. Having had to evacuate in the past due to wildfires, we are prepared to go if need be. This is a trying time for everyone in the Los Angeles area, so please bear with me.

On a happier note, a colleague of mine is going to launch a very fun steampunk cozy adventure on Kickstarter next month.

Sky Guy and The Altitude Adjustors - Issue #1

Prepare to enter a fascinating world of Steampunk, mutants, and... perhaps a bit of magic.

Aerotowns are the population centers of civilized society. They are, however, ancient -- and due to lost knowledge, only Altitude Adjustors know how to maintain them and keep them suspended in the atmosphere.

More to come. Thank you.

Happy New Year and Shipping News
about 1 year ago – Sun, Jan 05, 2025 at 09:42:06 AM

Hello Awesome Backers:

Happy New Year!  Here's the latest...

According to the printer, the books were due to arrive in Long Beach yesterday, but I won't receive confirmation of that (or not) until early this week. If that date holds it will take about a week or two for the books to clear customs. That's assuming the container is not pulled for inspection. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, all shipping materials have arrived, my packing crew is on stand by, and I'm gradually organizing everything for them. As noted before, I will not begin shipping physical packages until after Jan. 19 as USPS rates go down then.

BACKERKIT SURVEYS

I'll be sending Backerkit surveys in for review on Monday. If all goes well, and it should, look for your surveys in your email towards the end of the week.

PIKES PEAK

Dany is WAY behind, but promises to catch up when she returns from the holidays. We are looking at finishing the art for Issue 3 toward the end of February. I'd love for it to go faster, but I'm happy with the work she's turned in. More on that in a couple of weeks.

I think that's it for now. Thank you!

Bookmarks Have Arrived!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Dec 16, 2024 at 04:31:12 PM

Hello Awesome Backers:

The bookmarks have arrived, and they look terrific. A big thank you to Alejandro Lee for designing them.

THE BOOKS

I was told by the printer that production was to be completed last week. If that still holds, the books should be on the boat either this week or the next. This still puts us on track for a January 2025 fulfillment date. My plan is to ship after Jan. 19, 2025. (USPS rates go down then.) I'll keep you posted of any changes.

GPSR and the EU

The EU threw us creators a curve ball this month with the implementation of the new GPSR rules (General Product Safety Regulation). I'm not going to trouble you with the details, but for those backers in the EU, do not worry. I will make sure you get your rewards while I figure out what my long term plan will be.

I have been told by Kickstarter that they will be addressing this when they rollout new and/or a modified version of their pledge manager early next year.

More to come after the first of the year.

Happy Holidays!

Best, Madeleine

Book is in Production and Digital Stretch Goals Sent
over 1 year ago – Wed, Nov 20, 2024 at 12:46:58 PM

Hello Awesome Backers:

I'm happy to announce that the book is officially in production. Once I get a shipment date, I'll let you know, but I suspect they'll arrive in early January.

In the meantime, I sent everyone who pledged to a reward the Dropbox links to the digital stretch goal rewards though KS messaging yesterday. The pdfs of the main book will not be available until after I send out the Backerkit surveys in early Jan. 2025.

PIKES PEAK UPDATE

For those of you who missed the update on the current series, Mystery at Pikes Pike, I have had to let the artist, Elisabeth Mkheidze, go. Though I loved her work and thought she captured BMS wonderfully, she missed multiple deadlines over the past year and ghosted me for months. I had to make the hard decision to move on. This was the first time I had to fire an artist and it broke my heart, but it was time. I wish her the best.

After months of searching, I hired Daniela (Dany) Rivera to complete issues three and four of Pikes Peak. Dany has been on my radar for a while, but when I saw her submission to the Mad Cave competition, I knew she would be right for BMS.  Dany officially started working on Nov.4 and has already turned in the roughs for pages 1-17 and pages 1 and 2 of a thirty page issue. She anticipates having issue three completed by the end of the year (give or take a week). I am keeping Kaytee on as the colorist to maintain consistency in the look and feel of story.

I have two variant covers already done with art by Yishan Li and Gwynn Tavares. (Yes, I was able to lure her back briefly.)

More to come on that later.

Happy Holidays!     Best, Madeleine
